WORKING GIRLS
Directed by Ayla Combes
About The Play
An all-immigrant-female cast relives the story of the young factory workers who were victims of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company fire in 1911. It was the deadliest industrial disaster in the history of the city and one deadliest in US history. The fire caused the deaths of 146 garment workers who died from the fire, smoke inhalation, falling or jumping to their deaths. The performance combines text from interviews of the survivors and extracts of the court case with movement pieces that speak for the voiceless victims.
"Working Girls" is a play about the American dream, work, survival and hope.
